I see a big confusion on strategic level with leadership deploying AI where it does not make sense. It is like Japanese attacking Pearl Harbor for Operational and Tactical reasons even if it did not make sense Strategically.
AI is a tool. It should not dictate strategy. If the strategy is “use AI for everything”, it is not a strategy.
AI should help automate, unblock flow, increase velocity and most importantly get your closer to your strategic objectives. It should not just be used for everything.
If you use AI to automate your emails, you might just create more chaos and unnecessary work in your organization. AI should not automate email. It should replace it.
This is just one of many misconceptions. AI should in almost every case be thought of in a way “can this step in the process be removed or transformed by using AI to meet my goals?” not in “can we use AI to do this 3x faster?”.
Faster does not mean it is getting you closer or faster to your strategic objectives. Moving faster in the oposite direction is getting you further away from your goals. And jumping from the top of a building will get you down faster, but you still should take an elevator to meet your strategic imperative of staying alive.
