I have recently read an article where the author compared talking to LLMs to saying enchantements. And it makes sense to me. I am currently playing Hogwarts Legacy and when you are learning new spells, everyone is telling you to be careful about pronunciation and hand movements.
The same goes for talking with LLMs today. Changing one word, sometimes even one letter can lead to a disaster. And more often than note even saying exactly the same stuff misfires (just like with spells in fantasy).
So might it be that in the future, when everyone forgets how to do shit, there will be people running around saying spells to technology they do not understand and this is also what we will teach our children? Will we just accept the “magic” of LLMs and give up on understanding stuff?
If so, I would say that would be post-apocalyptic for the human race.
