Ignoring the Middle: How Overlooking Middle Managers Erodes Culture

Very true from my experience.

“Most organizations over-invest in executive alignment and employee engagement and quietly under-invest in the layer that determines whether either one works.

They treat middle managers as a communication channel, not a culture-driving force. They’re told to “cascade messages,” “drive engagement,” and “lead the change,” but they are rarely invited to shape the very culture they’re expected to deliver.

In the process, they become the forgotten middle, wedged between senior leadership’s lofty ambitions and employees’ daily realities.”
