In Slovak, the word decent (slušný) is very close to the obedient (poslušný). And a lot of people tell their kids to be obedient at school. But what they actually want them to do, is to be decent.
When you are decent, you do the right thing even if someone tells you to do the wrong thing.
If you are obedient, if someone with authority tells you to do something wrong, you will do it.
We should try to be decent, not obedient, and want the same from our kids.
