Many people do no know how to use AC. They shut it down in the morning when it is cooler and boost it through the day when it is hottest. This is the least efficient. You need to use cooler hours too cool down your flat or office and just maintain when it is hottest or even shut it down when it is most hot.
It is similar with conflict. We ignore issues when they are small and the effort to bring the tension lower is low and when there is full-blown war, we invest much more energy and effort into cooling it down.
