Countries, communities, companies, families, all have their own culture. And it is in their interest that their members accept and follow it.
But each person also has its own values, personality, goals. And it is in their interest to follow those.
When both align, you have a win-win situation.
But if people and group diverge, either group breaks down, or needs to adjust the culture, or individuals are forced into being part of a culture that makes them unhappy in the long term.
If the last occurs, and you have an option to change your group, do it.
